Whoops CYA sock had a hole in it

I just filled it up and stuck it in the skimmer basket - went to look at and its all gone (into the DE filter).
Do you think that it is still "useable" as long as I don't backwash?

It should be fine and will dissolve as long as it isn't causing too much flow restriction.

It'll be fine. That's exactly what happens when people pour it directly in the skimmer. Not backwashing for a week is your biggest concern.
