We're in the process of opening our pool that had a poor closing last fall. It's no longer green thankfully but VERY cloudy. I'm following the TFP SLAM method and watching my numbers with my taylor test kit. My husband thought he'd be helpful and put a few packets of shock that he found in the shed.
That was about 4 days ago. Yesterday I used the TFP calculator and added a full gallon of bleach and a few cupfuls of baking soda. It called for borax too but I didn't have any on had so I have to wait for that one. It's been cloudy then this morning there was a film of white foam on top that is plugging the skimmer. I have read other threads that say "let the chlorine run its course" but it's having a hard time sucking all that foam into the skimmer basket. My husband knows not to add anything now and I'm wondering if there's anything I can do to make the foam dissipate?
Yesterday's numbers:
FC 25, CC 1
pH 7.2
TA 45
CYA 90
I just added another 2 gallons of bleach this morning because I can't seem to keep FC up and now my FC is 38. Due to the cloudiness I didn't realize how much gunk was on the bottom so we're still working to clean up the bottom - another reason I am having to keep the FC up.
