Where do I go from here?

Pool has been open for about 3 weeks. Shocked at open, crystal clear ever since and have used in 5-6 days already. (Quite a treat for May in Wisconsin.) Here are my readings:

FC: 7.0
CC: 0.0
PH: 7.2
TA: 95-100
CH: 300
CYA: 35? (I can still barely see the dot around 35-40 if I move it around in the light

Seems none of these levels are alarming, but I do want to dial them in. First, I wanted to get CYA taken care of so I don't have to worry much about it the rest of the season. I added a bottle od Clorox CYA (added it three different times, not all at once) That didn't make much of a dent, maybe got it up a little. So I have been adding Trichlor pucks to the skimmer, since I had a bucket already. Figuring I could continue to bump the CYA up that way, also adding chlorine. Once CYA is up to 40-45, I was planning to switch over to the 12.5% liquid chlorine I already have. Is this a good plan?

PH has been steady at 7.2 since I opened the pool. Tried aerating by turning the return jets up for a couple days, had no effect. Splashing around a bit while swimming hasn't raised it either. S I added a box of Borax. Still holding at 7.2. Yet TA went up from 85 to 100ish. Not sure if there was a direct relationship there, or if TA went up for some other reason.

This is where I'm a little perplexed. I didn't want to try anything else, just see if the numbers adjust on their own since the pool is still clear, no irritation, and the levels are ok. But I do want to get the PH up to that 7.5-7.6 area and the TA down. I'm very afraid to add acid to lower TA, since that will lower PH and it's low already? Since aerating doesn't seem to work how could I then get PH up again without bringing TA up right along with it?

CH seems a little high too, but figured I would just let that ride a little longer too.

Other misc stuff. I run the pump about 16 hours a day. But when we have swings where it's not warm enough to swim for a week or so, is it ok to shut the pump down or run it less? Also, have the solar cover on most of the time, does that affect any of the levels? Edge of the woods so we get a lot of debris, plus big temp swings at this time of year so want to keep the water temp up.

Look forward to any help/suggestions you may have!

Don't try to chase "perfect" numbers. If everything is in range, let the pool see where it wants to be. I don't see a SWCG in your signature, so don't take the CYA too high. 40 is fine.

Your pH is stable at that TA level because you are using pucks, which are very acidic. Don't mess with it until it becomes unstable, likely after you discontinue puck use.

You also mention that you are putting the pucks in the skimmer. This is not a very good idea, and especially a bad one if you have a timer on the pump. If you are leaving the puck sit in the skimmer for 8 hours without flow once you start the pump some very acidic heavily chlorinated water is making its way through your system. It's a corrosive mixture. Even with flow it is not good for the system long-term.

Thanks for everyone's input so far. Good to know about pucks in the skimmer, I'm going to wait until this last one is gone and I think I'll stop using them, hopefully CYA will be close enough to 40. I won't touch anything else other than adding liquid chlorine as needed, and see what I get for readings over the next couple weeks.
