I know this is an old response, but what setting to do you keep your vsp pump at? Is it the same setting for the entire 24 hours? Your pool is slightly larger than mine. Ours is 10,600 gallons. Trying to figure out the proper setting is driving me crazy. I had it down as low at 1200 and my SWCG was still running, but then I lose the "waterfall" feature in my built in spa. 2200 seems to be a good fit to get the sound of the waterfall, but it seems high to run it at that for 24 hours. Maybe not. This is new and I am learning.

Every pool is different.
Keeping the spa spillover running also causes the pH to rise.
Pick a minimum rpm which satisfies the SWG flow switch and also skims the pool. Then run a high rpm to refresh the spa a couple times daily.

Does your pool have automation?
Fill out your signature with pool, all pool equipment (including manufacturers and model numbers) and test kit info.

With automation, set up "spillway" mode to cycle the spa twice daily for 15 minutes. This will refresh the spa water sufficiently. You can also set a feature circuit to run the spa spillover when you want it. No need to have it run continuously.

Without automation you are more limited - just run at a higher rpm twice daily, maybe 8-12 hours apart, to help keep the spa water water chlorinated.

Run your pump for your needs. Filtering, skimming, chemical distribution, heating, etc. I run low speed...200 higher than SWCG off point...most of the daytime. 200 above gives me some room for a dirty filter. At night, I run at higher speeds to get enough flow for the heater to run. When we are in the heat of the summer, and I don't need the heater, I run 24x7 at low speed.

So, run your pump for your needs. Maybe run it at low speed at night when you don't need your waterfall and run it higher during the day to get the waterfall.
