Water chemistry after winterization

Sorry for the winter subject while the summer has just started... My question is about meshed covers and plaster pools. So we take care of water chemistry during the season, making sure that the pool plaster is safe. Then, at the beginning of October, we lower the water level, blow the lines and put the meshed cover on. In New Jersey, during the off season until mid May, over 24 inches of pool water gets replaced with rain and snow... This is how much in total I need to syphon off to maintain the water level below tiles.

Isn’t it a problem? How to minimize the impact the rain water has on pool plaster during the off season?

Not really. The water is so cold that reaction rates are very low. So even if the water is “corrosive” in terms of CSI, there’s not a lot of action going when the water temp is below 60F.

Two option would be to - (1) get a solid cover with a cover pump and keep the water out of the pool OR (2) since you know how much water is being added you could always bump up the pH and TA (or CH) to make the water have a slightly more positive CSI on closing.
