Our 16'x32' inground pool was installed in August of 2020 and we swam until around November with no issue and when closing the pool while draining we had our liner float. Our pool builder did our closing and he said at the time he thought the underground drain line we had was busted. They removed the water and dug a new drain line and we assumed the issue was fixed. When we opened the pool this year we had a wrinkle in the liner but we were not sure if that was from the previous issue or a new issue. I unfastened the liner in a corner and stuck a small hose behind the liner and was able to suck out water, so we have some water behind the liner. Its not enough water to float the liner while the pool is full. My question is what are my options for resolving this issue? There were not any measures taken during pool building process to negate water around pool so whatever can be done will have to be done after full construction and a concrete pool deck is poured around entire pool.

I think first & foremost the priority has got to be finding the source of this water. Maybe it was from the plumbing that was repaired before, a different plumbing location, or maybe it's from the liner itself. Perhaps it's local water settling under/around the pool? Areas prone to heavy rains, flooding, or an elevated water table will often times install a sump pump station underneath or around the base of the pool to remove accumulating water. But right now, I would emphasize finding the source of that moisture. Once you have eliminated the pool itself (the link below may help), then it boils down to the ground under and around the pool.

Thanks for the info. I am 99% sure this is rain or ground water. I have been using a transfer pump to remove the water from behind the liner and it’s fresh water with no salt taste. (Pumping for several hours now and at 375 gallons removed and still going strong)So I’m assuming that groundwater is holding around the frame of the pool. My issue on how to resolve it is that we have a 10’ wide concrete deck surrounding the entire pool. I don’t know if putting a sump on the outside edge of our deck with help or will we need to cut concrete to install a sump next to pool frame?
