Want a SWG but worried about my vinyl liner..Advice Please!!!

I'm considering converting from chlorine to salt, but reading so many conflicting reports about it being bad for vinyl pools and then others saying its not. I love the idea of salt water, and love that it seems much simpler to maintain compared to my regular chlorine pool. I'm really burnt out, tired of wiping the bleach shelves clean every time I go to the stores, and then lugging the jugs to the pool everyday, checking levels all the time! I'm looking at the Hayward AQR15. In the 15 yrs we've owned the pool we've had two holes in the vinyl which caused a leak of course, and the liner has been replaced once. I'm just nervous about corrosion should a leak occur on the metal walls (which I believe are stainless steel but not 100% positive). Any suggestions?? should I convert? Thank you in advance!

UPDATE: I contacted Hayward on Facebook and was given the following response by Hayward direct:
"There are thousands of salt systems in vinyl liner Pools. With Hayward you would only have 3200 ppm salt compared with sea water being around 30,000 ppm. If you get a hole in your liner you will know immediately and either patch or replace the liner. Unless you let the leak go for a year I do not see a problem. Post your phone number if you want to discuss."

Hayward also stated I can use my regular Hayward sand filter, model S244T. Would still love to hear others advice if possible. Thanks!

I agree that it won't be a problem at all. Most normally chlorinated pools run about 2,000 ppm salt anyway, so you're only adding a little more salt to the pool to run an SWCG.

If you get a SWCG you'll need to test (or have tested) the salt level before you add any salt to your pool. Pretty much all water has some salt content and if you add the total amount listed for your pool you're pretty much guaranteed to overshoot the amount needed.

Salt does not concern me with my vinyl liner pool, too high or too low PH wreaks more havoc on pool liners and equipment than the salinity of my water.

After a few years, my "non-SWG" pool was only a couple of bags of salt short of an SWG pool! Chlorine (MA, too, I think), adds salt to your pool. If a vinyl liner couldn't hold up to salt, it couldn't be used in any chlorinated pool...
