Using up Old Shock

I have subscribed myself to using bleach in our pool (last year was pucks, which blew my CYA out of the park...ughhhh). I have a few leftover 1lb bags of shock (the pool essentials brand). https://www.amazon.com/Pool-Essentials-25506ESS-Treatment-1-Pound/dp/B00PZZG1Z8

Should I throw them away or would they be safe to use up? I DO NOT want to raise my CYA again...that was a whole lot of draining and refilling to fix that disaster. I'd hate to add something that is going to warp my otherwise good water chemistry just for the sake of not feeling guilty for throwing it away.

You shouldn't add it to well balanced water. It will only go higher.

One option... I had really low cya for this year's open and supplemented with some bags to raise cya and fc since I was slamming anyway. You may want to consider that in future seasons.

This is what I'm saving my remaining powdered shock for. We have to do a roughly 1/4 drain when we close, so we may be slightly low on cya next year at open after we fill.
