Using salt level to estimate cya

Hi All..

Here in south alabama, for the month of june, we are up to over 6" of rain.

To avoid using my cya test kit so much can I estimate the cya based on salt level?

For example:

The measured salt level is 3200 ppm ±200
The measured cya is 70 ±10

In a give amount of time I measure salt to be at 2800 ppm
That's a 12.5% reduction.

Can I assume the cya has reduced by the same ratio?

Are there more factors to consider that makes this more complex?

Thanks.

I got homework for you. Why don't YOU be the guinea pig and test that theory for yourself and the rest of us. Best time I can think of to "waste" a CYA test. There is no substitute for accurate testing.
