Updating a vinyl 1930's liner pool to concrete/gunite

So, our pool is 20x12 ft. It is cinderblock rebar supported into the coping to allow for concrete expansion as ALL concrete wether cinderblock or gunite will expand and will in fact crack. So cracking isn't a huge deal but complete failure in 10 years is. So far our cinderblock is in GREAT shape. In your opinion, is it possible to pool plaster a cinderblock wall and have you seen what happens when you do? The bottom of our pool is vermiculite SAND. It isn't very much in fact I could probably shove it in a few days. The deep side is between 8-9 feet and the shallow end is currently about 3 1/2. There is no entry end either except to climb down our chrome ladder. I realize our filter and pump system would need to be gutted etc. also. How much work is this as far as cost altogether? Also we need to account for a poolhouse that is less than 1 foot away from the pool. We are removing the wall but it has to go right back into the same spot it was in (building codes). Is there new water proofing for such a construction? If so have you seen examples of this and know what it is called? I have seen dreamy photos of houses that are on the pool line before but I have no idea how they sealed that to make sure the wall did not get wet thus damaged. Were their walls made out of another material?

I have no idea how they do this any help would be greatly appreciated even before we get started in the wall. This is how close the pool house is roughly https://pin.it/3WTeVMm Here is another one it is literally on the water and this one https://pin.it/5n3mVzr

Welcome to TFP! Interesting scenario. I have looked at the pools in those two links, and of course we see the photo above. But do you have a pic of the pool/property you are actually referring to before we tag some industry experts for advice? Pics of the equipment pad would also be helpful.

Sure, I have some photos of the situation. What does equipment pad mean? :) We took out the old pump and filter to regain the space it was HUGE. That was positioned against the main house. So the plumbing runs under the small lawn area to the steps of the concrete. In fact that is where our electrical box for the filter pump was. I can show you the pool inside where the plumbing went to and the side of the pool and what that structure looks like. Right now the pool is a mini-pond with weeds lol (dirt floor). The pool is from the 1930's aprox. so it is very old but there has been almost no movement at all and even survived the massive earthquake in 1989-90. Still the pool was nary a crack inside!

The first picture is the first pic of the project we are looking at a 20x 12 foot pool. Next pic is where the holes for the filtration pipe was on the deep end? The 3rd pic is the shallow end again I believe another filter. The third is the pic of the wall that needs to come down /be repaired so if must come down then we will need to somehow make it waterproof along that future stucco wall. What is currently there is stucco. Which is why if we get the demo going and that ledge is exposed then we definitely would want to seal that area up and make it as waterproof as possible so close to a stucco wall. Would it be a simple job like an epoxy or a waterproof flashing in addition to an epoxy?

The next photo is the corner where you can see they put rebar into the cinderblocks AND filled it with concrete attached the rebar to the concrete coping deck that goes all the way around the pool. The concrete decking was the only thing that was disturbed during the big earthquake of 89 I think it was. It was that that created the cracks we believe. The next shot are the pipes where the old filtration system was which was gigantic! The next photo shows you where the pipe and ALL the electrical units are for the pool which is on the main house structure.

I hope this helps?

Thank you!
