Hi, I have a 15 ft diameter 5000 gallon above ground pool. I’ve been plagued with very small knats & no-see-ems in my water. Most are alive & surface during cleaning. I read to shine a light on water at night and put a cup or two of dawn dish soap. The light will attract the bugs & the dish soap will drown the bugs as they try to break through surface. I did this last night & ran my big sand filter all night. This morning my pool has 4-5 inches of soap bubbles covering 90% of pool. Any ideas how to easily remove bubbles

Scoop out what you can and elevate the chlorine level until the foaming is gone.

This goof has been goof-ed plenty. It's harmless and all you have to do is wait it out for the FC to do it's thing.

Have a friend who was plagued by the neighborhood kids - they would sneak in at night, and dump large amounts of dish soap in his 25,000 gal pool. He related that high levels of Cl was the fix, although it may take days if the kids used a lot. Unfortunately, this was an issue for several years - they even avoided the various cameras he put in to catch them in the act....but finally they grew up and went on to other things....

A cup of dish soap in 5000 gallons of water is A LOT of soap. It’s going to take a long time for chlorine to break that down and dish soap is designed to work with chlorinated water (most municipal water has chlorine in it), so expect to see bubbles for a good long time.

Next time buy an actual product meant for the job. I use a product called SKILL-IT from BioDex. It works well at drowning water pests. It does cause a mild bit of foaminess in the water but not nearly the amount that would be caused by dish soap.
