Hey friends! Me again!

Latest panel run (or you can check my logs as of this morning)
FC 5.0
PH 7.2
TA: 170
CYA: 40

I can't add muriatic acid to lower my PH since I'm pretty well at the floor... to start the reduction of TA.

I have read a couple threads and there's not a "here's how to lower TA without impacting everything else" answer

So do I just let it sit at 170 and keep adjusting PH down to 7.2 whenever it does climb?

Thanks!

The TA by itself won't hurt anything. The only problem with an elevated TA is "usually" that it allows the pH to climb must faster. You don't seem to have that problem. So if/when the pH ever decides to wake up and grow to about 8.0, then you can hit it with acid. Of course the TA is notoriously high in your part of the country, so with each top-off from evaporation, the TA creeps upwards. It's a never-ending battle. :brickwall:

The PH hasn't changed in about 3 days - granted we haven't been in the pool as much as normal. And I have had a solar cover on for about the same amount of time.

I'll just let it ride until the PH climbs!

This is where I don't see the point to force the TA. You're only lowering it to slow the Ph rise. It'll inevitably pull the Ph up and you can chip away at it when it does.

Say, you run a bunch of cycles to speed up the process, then you still have to manage the Ph for that time it would have taken to lower the TA on its own. So sit back and let it do it's thing. If the Ph is taking a while to rise, don't go looking that gift horse in the kisser. :)
