I went to brush my pool last night. I notice stuff on the floor but also some on the sides of my steps and walls. I ran my hand over it. It came right off didn’t feel gritty or slimy. I adjust FC to 8 each night. CYA of 50. Yesterday was cloudy so FC was 6.5. Added some LC according to pool math would bring it to 9. Added a little extra since I was brushing. Brushed the whole pool. Waited about an hour tested again got FC 8.5 CC 0.5. Tested again this morning got FC 9 CC 0.5. Knowing the test has about 10% error I would say those results are the same. I always thought the only thing on vertical walls was algae but it didn’t eat any chlorine. Anybody have any thoughts am I missing something.

We have 2 dogs which sit on the steps when it gets hot, and we had a brownish substance that accumulated on the walls. I did a full treatment thinking “algae”, but it turned out to be a film of dirt (maybe pollen?). I double checked my levels, and the pool cleaner took care of the rest.

For something that visible and to not effect the FC level, I would also think it must be some other material other than algae. Might just need to hit that area with a brush a little more frequently to help it along.
I get dust, yup dust that sticks to certain areas of my pebble finish. It took me awhile to figure out that it wasn’t organic in nature, but it’s just very fine dust that gets hung up on the finish.
It has been windy the last few days. Guess I need to brush more often it had been about week since the last brushing. I guess I really need to figure out how to use the Polaris 360 that was left by the previous owner.
