Steps are a little dingy/dirty above the water line - magic eraser doesn't really help

The liner's out so this is an ideal time. Magic eraser really doesn't work on this part. It's been suggested to just use dawn soap or even toilet bowl cleaner for these white fiberglass steps.

Are either of those a good idea? Any other suggestions?

What's the color of the staining? Are we dealing with black scum or yellowing?

It's just dirty looking. Not yellow. I'll get a pic when I can

So here's the answer to my own question - use this stuff!! Magic Eraser alone doesn't do enough but this stuff and a brush works super. Cleaned up all my trim pieces and they look new!
