Last year was 1st pool season and opening pool for the 1st time...took a water test... water was looking clean. results (before starting filter):
FC/CC = 0
Ph: 7.1
TA: 50
CA: 50
CYA: 30
Salt = 2200

the water is transparent clean, i only see brown sediment ... not sure if this is brown algae or pollen (my winter cover has a small 1inx1in hole) and plenty of trees around.
how do i tell if its one or the other ?

will post a pic tomorrow as i am getting ready for SLAM.

You need to add FC 4ppm immediately, run the pump for 30 min and test again, if it drops then you need to slam. What test kit are you using? update your signature please.

It could just be dirt that made its way through the hole in the cover. Try to collect some of it, If it poofs away it is probably algae. If you are able to collect some rub it between your fingers and try to smear it on a sheet of white paper. If it makes a greenish mark it is probably algae. If it feels gritty it is dirt or sand.

I'm pausing the opening as i am trying to get chemicals and it will get down to 34 degrees overnight on Wed / Thu.

in the interim, here are the pics. I'm leaning towards pollen.

I'm thinking of running the robot for a few days and then start the pump.

What do u think ?
