Stain in areas of pool

Recently took over the maintenance of my pool.
Put a new filtration system in which works great.
I put a new light in and found out old light a source of rust in the pool.
Since the new filter has been installed , about 2 weeks in, I took it out to clean- it was a light orange- assuming it's iron in water.
Stains has lighten up a bit but what to I add to pool water to remove them?
Local shop has a test kit to see to see what kind of stain it is and what would remove the stain but I pretty sure it's from rust.
What would you suggest to remove the stain in pool?

Welcome (officially) to TFP! So it seems apparent you do have iron in the water. If the staining is in small areas, you can manually treat with some Vitamin C placed in a sock and rubbing it around a bit. But if it's widespread, there are a couple things you can consider. You can try a metal out or sequestrant type product that is designed to lift iron staining and keep it in a water solution form. That's fine, but somewhat temporary as the iron is still in the water and won't leave unless you are able to filter it out or exchange some water. You'll have to add those products periodically as well.

You could also look into an Ascorbic Acid treatment which lifts wide-spread staining, but again, it's still in the water, hence the water exchange. Remember, iron typically reacts to an elevated FC and/or pH level with either water color changes or actually attaching itself to the pool surfaces (stains). The reaction to FC and pH is also driven by the amount of iron content in the water itself.

If you receive a lot of rain, you might also take advantage of that free water to exchange some of the iron-filled water in the pool.

We have many members that use polyfill in the skimmer and/or by running pool water through a separate 5-gallon bucket to filter out the iron. This is usually more successful when the iron has precipitated out into the water making it change to brown or green. If your water is clear and you just see staining on the surfaces, the polyfill may not grab any iron.

Question- I bought a bottle of Pro Team Metal MAgic to give it a try-
How precisely do need to follow the directions- it says to run pump for 48 hours- and turn off my salt generator.
As all the above are new to me and this pool- I am not that familiar with a variable pump, and chlorine generator.
But I guess I give ot my best shot.
Not sure how to lower Chlorine level, I guess I turn it off and let the FLA sun remove it for me, or at least lower it a bit.
Thoughts?

If you turn the cell off, the FC will certainly fall. Before doing that, you might consider adding a Polyquat 60 algaecide to prevent algae. If you get an algae bloom during the stain treatment process, all bets are off and the SLAM required to remove algae could aggravate metal in the water again.
