When I purchased this SWG, there were very few reviews online. So I wanted to give my review, even if it’s a bit too early.

I installed this on a 21 foot above ground pool. The cell screws right into the pools jet return. The manual specifically states that if it is placed anywhere else, the warranty will be void.

There are 2 wires that connect the cell to the control the unit. The wires are 8 feet long, which I found very annoying because my pump & outlet is closer to 10 feet from the pool. I barely made it work.

One thing I will say is that this produces INSANE amounts of chlorine. It’s been going for a week at the medium setting on the control unit and my FC PPM is close to 20. I keep backing it down and I expect i’m going to have to put it on its lowest level to get the FC down. CYA is only at 40-50 so it’s definitely not that.

Anyway, that’s my way-too-early review. I’ll post an update in the future if necessary.

Awesome, Please raise your CYA to 80 as it is better for the SWG.. The best way is to turn off the SWG and when the FC drops to 8 turn it back on..

Thank you for the advice! I will do that. I am brand new to SWG and did not expect it to skyrocket the FC like that. I didn’t think SWG’s were supposed to be able to do that.

They will when they are oversized and that is a great thing.. you just run the pump shorter time or turn down the % the SWG is running at (if it will do that)

I am brand new to SWG and did not expect it to skyrocket the FC

So it’s simple math to keep tabs on going forward. If the unit is oversized like we recommend (2X), it will produce double your FC needs daily during the peak season. So all else being equal it will need to run about 12 hours in those times. If it’s even larger, it’s more, and 5+ Extra FC a day will add up in no time.

In the beginning and late season it will really overproduce per day when your FC/UV demand is much less. So start the season low, and pay attention for the 2 or 3 times you need to increase it as the season gets going. Then, for the back half, pay attention for the 2 or 3 times you need to decrease production. So expect to get between 4-6 weeks at each stage. Maybe less because Buffalo.
Open, up-up-down-down, close. Something like that.

You can accomplish either by changing pump runtime, or % of pump run time that the unit is producing. The cell doesn’t care. 12 hours at 100% is the same as 24 hours at 50%. It’s either on or off.

Based on PoolMath effects of adding it Looks like you would get 12.5 ppm fc a day if you run 24/7 @ 100%, 6.25ppm for 12hrs @ 100% , about 3ppm for 6 hrs. @100% etc. maybe that will help with your adjustments.
