Solar cover question

When I do use liquid chlorine, I generally don't remove the cover. I run the pump, pull the cover aside in front of the return, and slowly add chlorine. Liquid chlorine disperses quickly, so I don't think you have to worry about damage to the cover.

I was wondering the same but agree with those above (i.e., "don't worry"). What I would do if I had a new cover and had to add more than say...3 gal of 12.5%, I would add at night (about 1 hr before my pump stops), then put the cover on next morning. But again, if you want to be "really" careful with your new cover - I have an old one so I don't really care :)

What damages the cover is exposure to UV light from the sun. The chlorine in your pool is not all that harmful to the cover. Solar covers are made of the same material that the bottle of chlorine is made of.
