I just moved into current house and it has a 10k gallon pool, i emptied the sand out filter since was 4 years old or so and thoroughly rinsed everything out before adding new sand, going on 2 weeks since added new sand and having to vacuum pool daily and always small amount sand, using a vac with mesh filter so able see what all is vacuumed up, the amount if very small and mainly just collects on edges and on wrinkles in liner, with sand being new is this normal for awhile untill sand isnt as course? sand is Particle size (0.85-0.425 mm) and believe says on Hayward site they recommend .45-.55, is that .025 enough to cause it to slowly leak in the laterals? i didnt see any cracks or anything in laterals and the amount that goes into pool daily would barely fill a teaspoon if even that

Rubber band a hole-less sock over the return jet and save yourself some vacuuming.
Did you use the "Rinse" setting on the multiport after you refilled the filter? That's there to blast the tiny stuff through the laterals and out the waste pipe.

yes id backwash it for 2 min or so and rinse for 40-60 secs, till the sight glass was clear, first time i backwashed after replacing sand i got a lot sand out backwash hose, but after first time was fine
