SLAM for a Friend: CYA

I’m guiding a friend towards the TFP method who is on the 3rd green pool this year. FC is 0 or close to it, PH is off the scale purple, and CYA is clear to the top. Water is green with visible algae. SWG pool (looks functional).

They are ordering a TF-PRO Salt, and I plan to guide them through SLAM. PH will be adjusted to 7.2 or so. Assuming CYA is 0-20 should we bring that up a bit? It is a full sun pool so I was planning on recommending an addition to 20 prior to initiating the SLAM.

TA/CH are 80/500. Salt is 2000 so plan to bring that up to 3000-3500 too.

Is this what everyone else would recommend too?

Thanks! So I’ve never worked with CYA so low, do I assume a visible dot and clear at full is 0 CYA and add to 30 based on Poolmath and dose Chlorine assuming 30?

Is the solution completely clear or is it somewhat cloudy?

Add enough stabilizer to get the CYA to 30.
If the solution was cloudy, assume CYA is 20 - increase it by 10.
If the solution was completely clear - increase CYA by 30.

After the stabilizer is added via the sock method, dose FC as if the CYA is already in the water.

Thank you, it was completely clear so I’ll dose to 30 after a quick re-test to make sure nothing was off on the original.
