I know you are not supposed to dump tested water back into the pool, but is it safe to dump tested water down the sink? I know it seems like a silly question, but no idea if any of these reagents may be corrosive to plumbing. Also, looking for some advice on technique for testing CYA. I know in the test kit instructions, it warns you that it is tough to gauge. When holding it at waist level, should I be looking directly down at the black dot?

I pitch mine in the yard. You'll be better off "glancing" at it while at waist level, sun to your back. Don't stare and focus on it. Pour it back and forth a couple of times to help insure your confidence.

1 Yes, pour it down the sink.

2 Yes, straight down the tube. If you like you can pour the mixture back into the squirt bottle and do it again and take an average.
