Hello, newbie here. Will attempt to swap out my failing Century 1 1/2 hp motor. Replacement came with a Hayward-Maxflo series 1800-2800 gasket kit which includes three gaskets (housing, lid and diffuser) plus a motor seal. It also contains silicone lube which brings me to my question; is the "lube" for the gaskets or the 'seal'? Thanks in advance. Ed

Welcome to TFP! The silicone lube is for the rubber seals/gaskets only. NOT the shaft seal. You don't want to get anything on the ceramic shaft seal. If you do (i.e. finger oil), be sure to wipe the ceramic with some rubbing alcohol. Hope that helps.
