I just replaced the sight glass on my Pentair Tagelus filter and switched from one with holes to one without. Now I'm nervous that I shouldn't have done that. Do I NEED those holes? I've got myself wondering if this thing is going to blow up when I try to backwash now. 20240614_103440.jpg20240614_103451.jpg20240614_103440.jpg20240614_103451.jpg

Not sure about the sight glass as I don't have one on my filter.

BUT, your filter is degrading considerably. The fiberglass threads are showing and it could be a matter of time before that top springs a leak, or, even worse, explodes!! Think about replacing your filter sooner rather than later.

The holes are a vacuum breaker.

You do not need the holes unless the waste line is hard plumbed and you need the line to drain.

A hard plumbed line should use a vacuum breaker of some sort to avoid water hammer.

You can use an air admittance valve on a T.
