Shampoo and Conditioner

Hello,

We recently got an inground pool and cabana with a outside shower. My wife is showering my kids after each night swim. After each shower, rinsed shampoo and conditioner is being run off into the pool. Is this going to be detrimental to the pool chemistry? I believe it will be using up my chlorine, but wondering what else?

Thanks

Conditioner will eventually end up in your filter. Or walls. It’s actually just a coating for your hair. (Fight me beauticians! You know I’m right!) so the conditioner that didn’t stick to the hair is gonna stick somewhere. I think they make oil soaker upper sponges you throw into the pool for that. Or you could try a magic eraser. It’s not much unless mama is liberal with it, which I doubt. Sunscreens and tanning oils probably leave more goo than conditioner. Shampoo should break down.

I guess I always assumed that most people just rinse off in outdoor showers 🚿
Leaving the real shower stuff (soap/shampoo) for the bathroom.
Does this shower have a drain? If not maybe you could make a platform using a shower pan & add a drain so the water goes where u want.

I wouldn't want soapy shower water draining into my pool for the same reason i wouldn't just dump shampoo in the pool. It doesn't belong and certainly won't help anything.

Heck, I swim and just about consider *that* my shower! My SWG keeps the pool so nice, my water is soft and my hair looks great once dried. The less shampoo and scrubbing the better hair looks. My hairdresser even commented on my hairs health. Not dried out and full of body.

A lot of folks have discovered that even without pools.
