We’re doing a major overhaul of our 1980s pool—converting spa to 8x7 tanning ledge, and extending the shallow portion, replacing the diving board with an overhanging jumping rock, and removing the ladder and installing a bench/ledge so kids can climb out. The finish will be a dark blue/grey pebble coat. And the deck will be porcelain pavers (EverBlue) that look like bluestone.
The plan is to shoot concrete later this week, but I wanted to make sure everything is being done the right way. Any suggestions based on the photos? We want to significantly increase the area people can stand but the steel in the mid area only extends about 3’. Should we go further? Plaster is still intact—are they supposed to remove or do anything else before gunite. We are new pool owners and want this pool reno to last 20 years.
