Save shock during closing?

Hi, I’m wondering if I can drain my water down below the skimmer before I slam my pool for closing. I have a pipe below that sucks into the skimmer. If I drain it partially before slamming it I won’t have to use as much liquid shock.

If you drain 3 inches ? Then you'll use 3/60ths (1/20th) less chlorine to SLAM the pool ? Yes. But also who cares about saving 1/20 th ? Lol.

It sounds better on paper that your use less. In the end it's negligible and not worth the hassle of needing to hand mix it.
