Sand necessary?

Hey all! So we've finally got the ground level and we're ready to move to the next step in putting up our 24' Coleman. I have a question and want to make sure I have the following steps correct, so your advice is greatly appreciated!

Question - is a thin layer of sand necessary to smooth the ground if we're going to also put down foam sheets?

Here's the plan -

- Thin layer of sand to smooth the bumps in the ground. IF you recommend sand, what type of sand is best to use?
- Gorilla Pad, necessary since we were pulling glass out of the ground when removing the sod. :(
- Foam Pads
- Ground Cover that comes with pool - needed?
- POOL!

I do plan on placing pavers under each support. Those need to be level with the ground, NOT the sand, correct?

We also plan to place landscaping edging around the pool, a foot out. Then landscape with stone to try to keep the neighborhood cats away. Is stone the best option to deter them?

I appreciate your help! Can't wait to get water flowing and fill this beast up!

Yikes on the glass. Are you sure you got it all out?

If you are using foam, you don’t really need sand. I would use the gorilla pad as additional insurance against any more glass.

I did two inches of sand, Intex tarp, gorilla pad and pool. But my ground is free of rock and other sharp bits.

Oh, on the cats, if you find the secret, let me know! The neighbors down the street feed feral cats, who then use my yard as a giant litter box! Grrrrrr.
