Salt cell repair question

Hi all,

I purchased a home last year with a rapidly failing hayward T-15 salt cell.

Pretty typically, I think, The salt reading was increasingly inaccurate. I kept adding salt to allow the generator to think it wasn't low, when in actuality it was high. This worked for about a year. Now though my salt level read 0 no matter what I do. The cell is clean. Looking down in the cell it looks fine, no visible corrosion.

Being the technical/mechanical type I started researching information on repairing a salt cell. I found a post on this forum that a couple of years ago had all of the pictures I was looking for regarding the disassembly of a Hayward T15. It's a really odd thing about these cells. If you google for pictures of a hayward cell cut open or disassembled they are essentially not available. It strikes me as very odd given how expensive they are to replace. In fact I can't find a single picture of a disassembled t-15. How strange is that.

So my question/request is that if anyone has the pictures to this original thread.

I'd love to see them, or if anyone has disassembled a cell and took pictures that would be great to.

Lastly if anyone has successfully repaired a cell I'd love to hear about your experiences.

About once a year I get requests for these images. Twice now I have updated them, twice now the photo host I used has stopped working and left broken links. To prevent future loss of data, I have reposted all the images to my personal blog, complete with comments.

As for not finding images, that is partly why I decided to document my cell disassembly.

Thank you for taking the time to send me the pictures, and mostly for taking the time to document it in the first place. Looking at your pictures I'm sure I can disassemble and at the very least use the parts to create a cell that is serviceable. Well at least I am going to give it a go.

Thanks again!

How did this turn out for you? Were you able to refurb a cell? I'm VERY interested in doing this myself. I agree that these things are designed to not be serviceable so that you have to buy a whole new one.

Does anybody know where to get replacement plates?

This forum is awesome
