Ripple Generator

I love the way the water in the pool moves and creates the water texture against the house and screen inclosure, however once the pump shuts off the water goes perfectly flat... not a bad thing but looking at it from inside the house at night with the pool light on, it can look like a empty shell with no water... I guess I have TFP to blame for keeping the water so clean!

So I was thinking of ways to move the water without the pump, it doesn’t need much, simply dipping a toe in provides enough movement for a few min.

I know aquariums and some water parks use fans or compressed air to create waves/texture in the water... but I almost need like a little solenoid hiding out in the skimmer to shake for just a second every 5min or so.

Has as anyone tried to make artificial ripples in their pool once the pump shut off? Just looking for some ideas to look into.

If you have a screen house, you could run a water tube up and put a fitting on it that dropped a drop every so many seconds/minutes.

I was thinking about doing this as well. Our pool is close to the house and we enjoy the view as well. One additional issue I have is that I have added lights behind my waterfall to illuminate the back of the water Wich looks great, However when the falls are off I can clearly see the light in the reflection from the pool. It looks like there is a light bulb in the bottom of the pool. A few ripples will distort this. I have not come up with good solution yet but am still working on it. Interested in seeing the ideas that are posted here..
