Hi all,

I closed my pool for the first time last fall, and opened it this spring. Went great! except i had an issue with a few of the screws that go into the concrete for my safety cover. A few of them were seized up, and i was able to eventually get them up by slowly turning them with vice grips. I don't want to have to do that again, so i have been trying to find replacement screws that fit. i've tried several from Amazon that were much cheaper than the $15-$20 per brass set for the "Merlin USA" ones and none of them will actually thread in, probably a slightly different thread (i thought). I don't need the sleeve, i just need the screw. I am just trying to find new screws to put in the old sleeves.

So i sent those back, bit the bullet and bought the Merlin ones. Except, these don't fit either! they look exactly like the ones i have (albeit much cleaner) and seem to be the same size/thread pattern but they simply won't thread into the pre-existing sleeves in the concrete. I don't think i stripped the existing sleeves -- i have one of the old screws that i removed in the spring and it goes in fine.

Is there more than one thread pattern for these Merlin USA screws? These are the ones i most recently got, which also don't seem to fit: Merlin USA Anchor

Take both the old and new screw to Home Depot, Lowes or Ace Hardware, they have thread gauge for both SAE and Metric threads. Look in the hardware section and it is usually hanging on a post. Find out if the threads are the same or different.
