Question about TA levels

I am just starting to open our pool and I am not sure what level to shoot for the TA. the card that came with my test kit says 100-120 for "normal pools" (it says 60-90 for salt pools, but ours is not salt) and my pool math app says recommended is 50-90 ... I did check the set up and have bleach selected in the pool set up for the app, but I am just not sure which one I should be targeting. I already brought it up from 40 to 60 with baking soda.

Hey April !!! At 60-100 it will likely settle where it wants to be as you manage the PH.

Instead of sending you down a Rollercoaster ride that may take the PH with it, we get TA close enough and let it be where it wants.

PH is similar. Any 7 is equally fine for you. If it wants to be a 7.4 or a 7.8, so be it. When it gets close to leaving a 7, pay a little more attention and be ready to correct it when the time comes.

ok, right now my ph is 7.8 ... but I am in the middle of slamming and it is cloudy, so I just wanted to get them into a good range and I'll tweak once it starts to clear up. We are a long way from swimming anyway because that water is cold!

Ph is invalid at 10+ FC. So we go into SLAM with a 7.2 before as we won't be able to test during. None of the other values like TA matter now either. Keep the focus on keeping the FC up. Backwash at 25% PSI rise, and brush and vac a couple of times a day. (y)
