Pump not priming- Air Leak?

When pump is turned on it gradually fills up and fully fills up then a second later water starts to dissapear (air getting in)

- couplings tightened (lubed)
- drain plugs lubed
- pump lid with o ring replaced
- water poured over suction side with water hose to see if any leaks get covered
- everything on suction side lubed and covered with saran wrap and lube

suction side from ground is copper plumbing attached to pvc above ground

no water leak ..pool level same

anything im missing?

That sounds like either the weir door is stuck or the pool level is too low.

If you have a main drain you can isolate the suction to only main drain and see if it still happens or as @mas985 above.
