My pump has been shutting off the past few days. It won't stay on. Today I turned it on and it has stayed on for the past 2.5 hours. In addition to this, the filter did have a small leak coming from the lid. Now the leak has stopped and I noticed that the clear valve (I don't know what it's called) doesn't have any water in it like normal. I attached a picture. I was going to have someone come out to take a look but I haven't heard back from anyone yet. What could be the issue? Is the pump overheating?

The clear thing you are showing in the pic is your filter sight glass. It probably won't show any water flowing through it unless you are in BACKWASH or RINSE modes, so I wouldn't worry about that right now. As for the pump, we'll need more details. Can you tell us the age of this pump and how is it shutting off? Is it turning off on its own, or is it tripping a circuit breaker? Does it make any unusual noises?

Is the pump still moving water well? Does the pump basket (under the clear pump lid) remain full of water? Are there any water leaks at the pump?

The pump is six years old. It's been turning off on its own. When I press the reset button it will come on and go right back off. Except for today. I pressed the reset button and its been running now for about 5 hours. It hasn't been tripping the circuit breaker and is not making any unusual noise. The water is moving and the pump basket is remaining full with water. I did notice water leaking from the bottom of the pump and I thought that was why it was shutting off.
