Hi, I have a 14 x 28 inground salt-water pool with heater. I've noticed a greyish powder in certain areas of the pool. I'm going to assume that this is dead algae. I sweep the powder towards the two round filter things in the deep end. I'm sorry, the name of this escapes me. I'm hoping the pool filter will catch it. But, the question is, why am I getting dead algae and how do I prevent it or get rid of it? It makes my pool look dirty. I hate it. Any advice?

Could be algae, could be some form of scale.
When you say in certain areas, is it in front of the returns?
To rule out algae, do the overnight chlorine loss test...Link-->Overnight Chlorine Loss Test
Can you post a full set of water test results...FC, CC, pH, TA, CH, CYA?
How are you testing your water?
