Pool Plants/Landscaping - Ohio

Cold Hardiness Zone 6a, as title states I'm looking for pool friendly plants to finish off our backyard area! Landscaper has suggested Fine Line Buckthorns and one Crape Myrtle Tree in the corner (about 15ft from pool). But both of these don't look to skimmer friendly...

I've looked at: Globe Blue Spruce, Gold Mop Falsecypress, Red Banana, and a weeping Red Bud.

Open to suggestions!
