Pool Opening

Might be hard to tell but uncovered my pool to a small crack emanating from a crack control joint on each side of the joint. Pool was completely full with water. That doesn’t bother me as much as the fact that the crack is at a return and there are air bubbles coming out of the return. How worried should I be? I’m running the pump for a bit before I take a chemistry test to start my SLAM.

If you are not losing water, then you may not need to be over worried. However, if the leak becomes greater with time, then you are probably in for a repair. I have hairline cracks near the cups for the ladder and hand rail (poured stamped concrete) and I may need to find someone in the next year or so. A skilled mason may be able to cut out the concrete and somehow patch it up, where you can barely tell. Good luck and keep us posted. Thank you.

I obviously don't know much about pools, but why does cracks in the concrete matter? We have some in ours and the PB said it's normal for concrete. Isn't the plumbing unrelated to the concrete?

It appears the leak in the returns is saturating through the concrete. Cracks are normal, and no matter what, they usually will occur.

LOL, I was looking at your response and my phone and it didn't make sense. Now it does. That's just water from where I pulled my arm out after removing the plug and reinstalling the return jet.

But on a better note, There's no more air coming out of that return. Back to normal. So I'm happy about that. Now I just need to get my pool balanced and SLAM'd and then I can install my SWG.
