Pool Cover - Thoughts on hard pvc (or similar) plastic cover. Two 9x16 'sheets'. (Debris falls into pool with the reel or solar cover)

Thanks in advance!

I am looking into swapping out the solar cover or net cover that we've used in previous summers. We live in a wooded area so unfortunately get a ton of debris which leads to me cleaning the pool while in in vs enjoying it.

The other day I had a thought. What is something light enough that the kids could pull it off in sections and perhaps the debris wouldn't just drop into the pool. Has anyone explored this or done similar?

When not in use I would weight it down to prevent it from blowing away.

Thanks! I had made this post a few years back as well. My pool is the rectangle and unfortunately I don't think the kid would be able to easily manage the dome.

I was envisioning something almost like a graham cracker the long way. Have 4 separate sections.

There was another thread I was trying to find but don't see it now. There are TONS of solar threads here on the forum that do the same. While you aren't concerned about the solar aspect, maybe some of those threads will give you ideas of how to create a simple DIY cover (in sections) that your family can manage. Foam-filled PVC sections have been used as a supporting framework for nettings.

Big rubber inner tubes under the cover can help when using a leaf blower to clear off all the debris before removing the cover. Did that the first couple springs. Still get a bit around the edges but not nearly as bad.

What would be the be the best material to set on top of the pool and where could one find it? Envision a large rectangle Tupperware container, that is what I'm going for :)
Be careful with stuff like that. If someone falls in a breaks through the Tupperware make sure they can get out easily.

Fair point! Older kids so feel okay.
Not just kids. I’ve read the floating mesh covers can envelope you if you fall in so you can’t move very easily. (I have one and can easily see how that might be true). A flat plastic sheet of anything would be quite heavy even if it’s thin. Hard to say for sure without seeing what the proposal is.

A chainsaw and a leaf blower might be simpler. 😉
