Pool closed, spa open…skimmer?

Hello,

We had the pool company winterize the pool, but our spa is open all year. Previous years, the spa skimmer was still operational. This year, there is a gizmo screwed in. Not sure why. Can I open it back up, or will that mess something else up?

You might want to post some pics of the pool/spa set up to confirm. But if you pull the Gizmo you would void the air lock created in that suction line to protect it. Your spa should have its own suction port/drain to pull water back to the pump, so I don't see why the skimmer would need to be open/used.
