To learn how to replace the cable between the power supply and the robot, the repair videos I found online all included a few unnecessary steps of disassembling portions that did not have to be disassembled. Fortunately, I found the official repair manual for the 9400 on scribd. The steps it outlined were exactly the minimum required. (Except that you do not need a hex (allen) wrench to replace the cable.)

Tip: When you separate the two halves of the blue body, carefully note the orientation of the styrofoam piece at the rear corner. I couldn’t figure out how to orient it on reassembly!
Otherwise, the only tricky part was dressing the cable when reinstalling the motor block.
