Hi everyone,
Based on some great info on this site I will be purchasing the k-2006 kit from a pool store here in Canada.
The kit comes with the below reagents. I was planning on buying some extra reagent bottles which I would use the most. Any suggestions on which ones are used the most / more frequently, so I can order some additional bottles? Thanks

  • R-0003-A
  • R-0004-A
  • R-0005-A
  • R-0006-A
  • R-0007-A
  • R-0008-A
  • R-0009-A
  • R-0010-A
  • R-001L-A
  • R-0012-A
  • R-0013-A
  • R-0871-A
  • R0870-I (10g Powder)

The only extra ones I picked up for my K-2006 were:
FAS-DPD (R0870 and R0871) and the CYA (R0013).

At this time of year it might be best to wait till spring for fresh reagents? I imagine you are shutting down soon.

Thanks for the info. I’ll be shutting down in about 4 weeks or so. Hopefully, with the pool heater, we’ll get 3 or so weeks of swimming. 😀
Should I wait until next year to get the kit? I’m hoping the agents that come with the kit won’t expire until at least end of next year…. My water tests are all over the place between different pool stores, so I’d like to get some accurate readings ASAP!

Definitely get the kit now, its the best investment you can make for your pool. Knowing exactly what is going on and how to fix it will make your life easier. Plus the 3 or 4 weeks you have left will be good practice for next season. We filled our pool July 15th and the only reagent I actually ran out of so far was the R00013. Your reagents should get you through a good portion of next year.

We are also hoping for another 3 or 4 weeks here but will be a trade off between the weather and the gas bill ;-)

Thanks weasel! Ok I’ll pick up the test kit now and hold off on the reagents.
Was thinking to load up on items now since I am paying for shipping when I get the kit. 😉

One other suggestion would be to look at a speed stir. Added expense but I'd never be without one now that I have it. That may get you up to free shipping ;-)

+1 on the SpeedStir. I did manual swirling and mixing for six months, then wised up. It makes such a difference in the time and even accuracy, I think, that it really should be part of any water test kit.
