Im noticing that lately im having to add acid weekly. I lower down to 7.2 and inevitably in a few days it’s up to almost 8. My TA is also rising up to 100-110 not surprisingly. All my other numbers are fine, just curious what’s causing this. Perhaps the smaller pool size? No return jets are breaking the surface and the pool is not frequently used.

pH rise is caused by LOW ph, High TA, and aeration.
If you force pH down to 7.2, it will want to rise rapidly. When your TA is 60-80, let pH sit at 7.8-8.0, which is just fine.
TA is only changed by inputs. If you are adding water to your pool and TA is rising, test the TA of your input water.
As TA rises, pH will want to rise. That is why we recommend TA of 60-80.
Just manage your pH in the 7s. When TA gets to 60-80, stop forcing pH down to 7.2.

+2 on what Pool Stored said.

Keep in mind that the pH rise is not linear. Mine gets to 7.8 in a few days, but the rise from 7.8 to 8.0 can take weeks so I let it hang out there for weeks at a time. I've seen people drive themselves crazy striving for 7.4 pH.
