Moved from here... Should I Convert from Ozone to SWG??

Well now I'm sick to my stomach. I had a SWG and was doing mostly fine with the TFP protocol. I had a spell where I got extra busy with work and my vacuum stopped working at the same time and got a small algae infection but knocked it out before it got too bad using the SLAM method here. I had a Heyward SWG and the controller stopped lighting up once so I had a guy come out and repair it. He thought it was just connections getting corroded. He did say that my cell was near end of life and told me about the cost of that(around $700 installed) and said that it is an ongoing cost that I'd have every few years with SWG cells. Hearing that and the fact that a buddy of mine just switched from SWG to a chlorine feeder for $300 made the decision seem simple. I always heard chlorine was chlorine but didn't see these posts about the tabs including CYA. I just assumed that I could buy pure chlorine tabs and everything would be great. So I came here looking for which type of tabs to buy and just want to cry over the decision I've made.

Have you actually removed the SWG? Or is it just turned off?

My cell is 8 years old, never been cleaned, and only now is it hinting that it might be time for attention. Don't assume anything a salesperson tells you without researching it on your own. They may have ulterior motives which aren't always in your best interests.

I paid a guy $300 to remove my SWG system and put in a chlorine feeder. I still have the equipment and may consider putting it back in at some point. I guess it would just be some plumbing and wiring it back in but would need to fix the issue with the controller first. It seemed like a bad connection or something because if I jiggled the cable that runs from the controller to the cell the lights on the controller would flicker or run for a bit then go back out. Just feel like an idiot for not looking here to see if I could fix it myself first. I'm just not the most handy dude in the world so I tend to call professionals for stuff like this. And I had no idea that all chlorine tabs had additional chemicals or I never would have done this. I would have spent a lot more replacing the system most likely.

The cell was still generating chlorine just fine at the time by the way. Just the controller stopped lighting up for the second time in a couple of months.
I have a vague recollection of someone repairing the board on his SWG so I did a cursory search here. I think this is the article he referenced. It might help you. There is some mention in there of someone on eBay who fixes them. Aquarite - Diagnose & Troubleshoot your own Main Board

And all I have here is a good memory and some search skills. Don't ask me any more about this.

When I read your post, I thought that it was possibly the thermistor. See the link Richard linked above and see if that's what you have. Don't get bogged down in all the conversation, just concentrate on the thermistor.

If you're not handy maybe you have a friend that is. It's very easy to replace and it's solved a lot of peoples problems.

If you don't know what you're looking at, take a few pictures of the board and post them here and we may be able to spot something.
