It's been about a month since I ran all the tests, so this morning I settled in at the patio table with my TF100 to do it all.

pH 7.4
FC 3.0
CC 0
TA 20

What????? Hold it right there!

Two drops and it's as bright a pink as I've ever seen any test. Within the space of a couple seconds my mind went into overdrive.

This can't be. It's never that low. They switched water sources and here I've been adding the usual amount of acid whenever I top off. I drove the TA too low. $#&@ now I need to go buy baking soda. No, wait -- the pH is fine. What's going on? I must have grabbed the wrong reagent bottle. No, its right. Did I squeeze the bottle too hard? Do it over.

This inner monologue must have taken all of 3 seconds.

So I go dump the sample out and rinse the vial with water from my sample cup and start to refill it.

That's when I realized I only filled it to 10 ml, not 25. Sure enough, the 25 ml sample tested at 50 TA. Exactly where it was the last time I tested it. Exactly where I expected it to be.

Even after years of doing this and having Expert status conferred upon me, I can still make stupid mistakes when testing. None of us are immune.

"...Wait? Should I confirm my test results with the local pool store just to be sure?" Only joking....glad you found your error and can rest easy :)
