No Warranty on NG or Heat Pump Heater if Attached to Soft-Sided Pool?

I've been speaking with Pool Supplies Canada and they said that if I have a soft-sided pool there is no warranty if I purchase a Raypak heater (or any NG or Heat Pump "real" heater). When I asked what I could use, they gave me links to solar covers.

I went to Raypak's site and read the entire warranty, but can't find any mention of specific pool type or other limitations/exclusions based on what the website folks are claiming. (poor quality parts etc.)

The only thing I can find is a mention of flow rate (over or under sized) but I've measured my flow rate vs. their chart and I'm completely aligned with their requirements.

Is this just the supply company not wanting to warranty the product themselves (act as the intermediary or something) or is there legitimately no warranty for any heater attached to a "soft sided pool" as they claim?

Thanks!

Yeah I think that’s best. The folks at PSC sent me back “the warranty documents” which amounted to a link to their product page saying “soft sided pools” weren’t covered and then a link to a much larger Raypak model warranty from 2012 that was also hosted on their site, not Raypaks.

I told them they couldn’t supersede or cancel a manufacturer warranty just because they wrote it on their site. Then said I wasn’t comfortable doing business with them.

Too bad because the pricing was good.

I would love to hear from any folks who have got an NG or heat pump on a soft sided if they’ve had any issues.

Due to their construction, soft sided pools cannot support some typical mainstays of inground and above ground pools.

For example, not just any heating system will work with the Bestway Octopool.

If you want to heat the water, the FlowClear Solar Powered Pool Pad is the way to go.

Propane, natural gas, or electric heaters must have additional hookups and hardware to operate safely, so they are not options.

Soft sided pools have a different flow rate, which causes incompatibility.

The flow rate difference is caused by much smaller pipes and connections than solid structure pools.

If the incorrect heater is used the water won’t travel at the speed required to run the equipment effectively or efficiently.
