i have a similar issue with the previous "no Suction" posting.
my pump just stopped sucking water- in the middle of the day- its a 2HP Hayward Northstar.
here is what i have done....
1) removed the basked from the skimmer and used an auger 20' in to make sure there was no clog
2) cleaned the pump filter and attempted to clean impeller ( no visible debris)
3) disconnected the large filter and augered the lines around pump (all clean)
4) cleaned the pleated filters
5) i have opened the lines to and from pool.... water seems to flow easily in both directions- with the top off the filter and valves open, the filter will fill with water from both the skimmer side and the jet side- so i am ruling out a clog/backup
6) i believe the pump while it runs and mechanically sounds normal, is not pushing water with enough pressure to move through the system
it appears the seal on the pump filter is tight but i ordered a new on and will pop it on as soon as it arrives.
it appears the pump is just not pushing water but it sounds completely normal when i am running it- if i open the air release on the filter it is pushing very little air and the air coming out sounds a bit like a 8 sec saw tooth wave..... WHISsssssssssssssssssssssssssWHISHssssssssssssssssssssssWHISHsssssssssssssssssssssss
oh and the pressure gauge on the filter isn't reading any pressure
the pump itself is probably almost 9 years old......... is it worth troubleshooting or is it time to invest in an upgraded pump one of those multi speed guys that save money ???
thanks in advance for the help!!
