I decided to get rid of my unions and replace them with camlock fittings. Also upgraded to decent valves while I was at it.
So far really liking the camlocks.
Yes, I know the sweep 90 on the basket is not Schedule 40. It is on the suction side, and it has been like that for 5 years now without issue.
My system used to pump like crazy before I did this. Now it is just insane. The amount of water this moves with a 1 HP pump is just ridiculous. If I don't have the water level high enough, it will pull the skimmer dry.
I may have to invest in a VSP.
