New pump loses prime

I have Hayward CC15093S Xstream Full-Flo 150-Square-Foot 1.5 Horsepower Filtration Filter.
Each time I start my pump it has to be primed again ( it has to sit unused for a hr or so )
It look like it's all filled with water but then it looks like on startup sucks in all water from pump ( basket area ) and start pushing bubbles of air. After that water level in pump drops to very low and pressure is gone.

This is new pool install and new pump. It was done 2 days ago ( also im new to it)

How high is the water level in the pool? Is it at least 1/2-2/3 up in the skimmer opening? Did you fill the filter with water before starting the pump the first time?

water is 1/2 in skimmer opening. I only filled pump with water ( where pump basket is)

Toward the bottom of page 5 it talks about start up and operation. Make sure the air relief valve is open and turn on the pump. It will sputter and blow out air until the filter is full. You may need to run water into the skimmer with a hose to help the pump keep prime until the filter is filled. Once a steady stream of water flows out of the air release, close the air release valve. Keep the pump running with the hose to supplement until the pump pot is full to the top with water.
You shouldn't have any more problems once everything is filled. Let me know if this solves the problem.

I did that - filter pressure is about 14. I made sure filter has no water by releasing valve until water came out as of now pot is full and it will stay like this even over night but once I start my pump after few hrs on not using it it will loose prime with in seconds. Water in pot (fully filled ) will drop to low level and pressure will be gone.

Ok, could you post a picture of the pool and pump set up? I think what may be happening is the water siphons out of the filter over time when the pump is off.

Try installing a check valve on the return line. That will prevent the recurrence after from flowing in reverse at the return. If you want to test this before installing the check valve, plug the return overnight.
