I have a backyard pool 24000 gallons. It was built in 1996 and remodeled in 2018. Things have been going pretty well until last summer when I couldn't keep chlorine in the pool. My home testr and the pool store test showed no chlorine, even though I was pumping 6-7 tables of Tri-chlor into the pool every week.; meanwhile the CYA went up to150. I have always used the tablets without problems. TODAY I find out through your site that very high levels of chlorine will bleach out the test chemicals showing no chlorine when in reality it is very high. THANK YOU TFP! I just pumped out half my pool to lower the CYA, and have ordered a TF-PRO test kit. I am also switching to liquid chlorine, and plan to be much more diligent about monitoring the pool. I also plan to add Borates once I get everything else settled out. I also bought Lowry's book and plan to follow his plan as best I can.

Hi @Rickri - Welcome to TFP! Good decision on ordering the TF-Pro test kit. You'll get a lot of answers when you do your own water testing. Next good decision to switch to Liquid for sanitizing. (Also consider a Salt Water Chlorine Generator...) When you get a chance, Create a Signature. That will help the experts and TFP Guides answer any questions you post.
