New inground pool almost done -- 13k gallons - initial settings?

Liner is being installed now, so we're getting ready for water. 14 x 28 pool, 3.5 to 5.5 deep, pool calculators showing that is around 13k gallons

  • I was planning on putting in 300 pounds of pool salt (does that sound right for 13k gallons?)
  • Looking for any general advice for initial setup for my equipment:
    • Aquarite AQR3 -- on a variable speed pump, what should this initial setting be?
    • Super Pump VS -- I read here I should set this to run for 8 hours per day... anyone have any general recommendations... like 4 hours over night, 4 hours during day? just looking for initial safe settings that I can tweak later on

Hey Jason! Congrats on the new liner. According the PoolMath, 300 lbs is about right (3,000 ppm). I don't have the fancy pump toys you do, so my experience is limited in that department - start at about 8 hrs and increase or back-off run times from there. But you can always review the following as well:
Pool School - Determine Pump Run Time
Pool School - Salt Water Chlorine Generators
As you probably already know, give the salt some time to dissolve and augment with regular bleach until you know the SWG is maintaining the FC you desire. Hopefully with this :bump: some fellow VSP owners will chime in with a tip or two. Good luck!
