Need filter advice

We inherited a Sta-Rite Posi-Flow 135TX when we bought our house a few years ago. Opening this year, all excited about installing an SWG and come to find out the base of the filter is cracked. And the nut on the clamp is stripped. And the O-ring is worn.

It looks like I can get a replacement base for around $100, clamp is around $50 and o-ring is around $10. My question is, does it make sense to keep replacing things one piece at a time on this old unit, versus spending a little more and getting into something new? I'd welcome opinions!

Any recommendations for our pool (~22000gal) would be most helpful. According to my reading, the filter we have is actually undersized for our pool. This makes sense as it's needed to be cleaned twice or more per season. We are not married to one particular filter technology and I understand people have their favorites. Are there any decent options in the sub-$500 realm?

That is a common scenario, whether it be for an entire filter or even just a multiport valve. Cost and overall impressions of the item will guide you. If money it not an issue, it's probably time for a replacement. Something like the Hayward 244T or larger should suffice. Of course if you are considering other filter options (cartridge or DE) this is the time as well. POst back if you have more questions and others should respond. Thanks for posting.
